Our Team

Kind Words

We have recently completed our second home with Burdge Architects and have thoroughly enjoyed our relationship. Exciting design concepts, a great staff, and excellent follow-through from concept to concrete.
— Rodney Eckerman, client
Doug has an uncanny ability to visualize a finished product. I have seen him time and again walk onto a lot and describe a new house in detail, or walk into a project and draw an amazing design on the wall. He sees things that normal people can’t see. If a builder follows Doug’s recipe, he can’t help looking like a hero.
— Jerry Williams, Malibu Contractor
Creative, conscientious, imaginative, intuitive, professional, prolific responsive, responsible, persistent, pragmatic and always a pleasure through numerous projects.
— Carol Bird, Real Estate Broker, Investor
When Barry Berkus, the architect who master planned the award winning design concepts for MariSol, passed away six years ago, we faced a crisis - how to replace one of America’s most inventive residential architects who understood the Southern California lifestyle which was embodied by our beach homes and with whom we had developed a great working relationship. Doug Burdge has not only filled that void far beyond our expectation but has added exciting new concepts that have enhanced MariSol’s brand. Importantly, Doug is a great and fun guy to work with. He and all in his firm are super professional, tireless, smart and do whatever is necessary to get the work done on time. We look forward with excitement each time we embark on a new project and can’t wait for Doug’s imagination to mold something new. As much as we love all his designs, we have come to learn that Doug’s next idea is always his greatest idea.
— Rich Morris and Ron Coleman – co-developers MariSol at Malibu”
It’s not just a Doug Burdge designed home, it’s our home. The beauty is in how Doug blended our ideas and desires with his vision. Truly collaborative and a stunning result.
